Can I rent a Palm Springs house for 14 people?

When searching vacation rental sites for Palm Springs rental houses for 8 or 10 people, there seem to be many options. However, once you search for Palm Springs Vacation Rentals for 16 people, those options suddenly disappear? What's going on here?

The answer is the Palm Springs Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Palm Springs has a good relationship with vacation rentals -- 70% of voters nixed a measure to ban them in 2019. That said, one of the reasons that things work well for residents and renters is that Palm Springs Vacation Rentals like ours follow the strict city rules.

Palm Springs says that vacation rentals can only have up to 12 adults, not matter how large the house is.

So, how do you find a Palm Springs Vrbo for 18 people? The answer is side-by-side homes. For example, if you were looking for a Palm Springs Airbnb for 16 guests, you might split the group into 8 and 8 and reserve two houses that are side-by-side (like our two Palms at Park Villas!)

All 3 our homes are side-by-side.

If you need a Palm Springs rental house for 20, you might even split up into three groups and look for three side-by-side homes (we've got that too: our two Palms at Park Villas are also next to 5 Palms Estate, our 6 bedroom stunner.

So, more than 12 adults? You'll need to split up.

To recap, you won't find a Palm Springs vacation rental for 14 people because it's not allowed by the city. You'll need to split up the group, but splitting up isn't hard when you're staying right next door!

You'll still need to follow city rules and regs.

Regardless of whether you are one group or two, your entire group will still need to follow the city rules and regs. If you rent more than one house, each house has to have a 'Responsible Party' that makes sure the group knows the rules and follows them.
